This video has both elements of performance and narrative. It begins with the performer, Chris Brown coming out of an Audi R8, which portrays his star image. Expensive items are often used in modern music videos including popular artists to help display their fame and sometimes brag about how much money they earn as an artist. Luxury items may often appeal to the viewers as the majority of people are inspired by the artist and therefore aspire to have the luxury lifestyle as shown in certain music videos. Chris Brown is clearly promoted through medium and close up shots of him driving expensive cars and also from his dress code: his jacket, shirt and trainers, which are all an expensive brnads, but at the same time making him look casual, so that the audience can relate to him as a normal person. Chris Brown is also knwon for his good dancing skills, therefore like many of his videos there is a sequence of him dancing alone, as kind of his signiture to his videos.
Intertexuality is used in this music video, as although Chris Brown's dancing is of a high standard, it can also be linked to the iconic performance of Michael Jackson.
The lyrics of the song match the performance of the video, making it mainly illustrative. The story of this music video is made clear through the performane; Chris Brown is in love with this girl and clearly would do anything for her, even falling off a building for her, as shown in the video. There are two parallel elements in this video; one includes him dancing with a crowd in a club and the other of him dancing with the girl alone, expressing his intimate love.
CGI effects are used to show how chaotic and 'out of this world' feeling that Chris Brown may be feeling dancing with a girl that the really loves.
Most of the video is lip-synced, using close up shots to demonstrate this. His dancing and the way the shots are cut matches the beat of the music. He combines dancing and lip syncing throughout doing both at the same time at numerous ocassions.
